Highlight of Hayes Game from NY Daily News WebsitePosted Monday, September 10, 2007 by Joe DeSimone FALCS FLY HIGH: The Rams weren't the only team to drop a team in a higher division. Defending 'A' champ Spellman served notice that it hasn't lost a step in its 26-13 win over 'AA' foe Cardinal Hayes. Spellman went home with the Rev. Msgr. Matthew V. Peters trophy – awarded annually to the Hayes-Spellman winner – for the first time since 2003. Quarterback Robert McIntosh led the way with a 36-yard first-quarter scramble, slipping in and out of three would-be Hayes tacklers and stomping into the end zone to give the Falcons a 6-0 lead in the first quarter. McIntosh then put the game out of reach with a 55-yard punt return in the third quarter to give Spellman a 26-13 lead. |
